Our Values

A common set of values, outlined below, will build trust and help us all create a better NSS community, whilst honouring the traditions and good work of our Divisions. In 2009 we agreed that we will work together with respect and care, openness and integrity, to focus on our customers, demonstrate commitment to each other and excel and improve.

We work together

  • where we have common customers, making sure we make best use of each other's specialist skills;
  • share best practice across NSS;
  • make sure that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts;

With respect and care

  • in everything we do for our customers, our people, our suppliers, our communities, and our environment;

  • so that we all know how well we are performing and can improve our services;
  • with one another so that we can support and coach each other;

And integrity

  • in everything we do and in all our dealings with  one another;

To focus on our customers

  • making sure that everything we do is focused on supporting Scotland's health;
  • standing in our customers' shoes so we fully understand their needs and expectations;
  • managing our performance against what matters most to them;

Demonstrate commitment to each other

  • by listening and providing constructive feedback;
  • empowering and supporting;
  • and helping staff to develop the skills and knowledge they need;

And excel and improve

  • in the services we deliver to our customers;
  • and in the way we support and develop our people;
